Although the LPD hopes your dog is never lost, we are taking extra steps to make sure that if they do wander, our officers will be able to secure them! In our experience, we've discovered some tricks that help entice capture so they can be safe until reunited with their families! In each cruiser, officers will have "loose dog emergency kits." They include a nonslip leash, nonslip collar, collapsible water/food bowl, high value treats and squeaky toys! Combining these new items with some of our previously used items, we hope to keep all "Im-pounded Pooches" safe! Please remember to register your dog(s) with your hometown and don't hesitate to report missing dogs to us. Most likely we'll tell you they're hanging out in dispatch learning how to answer the phone!
