Safety >Visitor Safety/Travel Tips

If your travels ever bring you to the Lincoln area, please take time to make your stay more enjoyable and safe. Whether hiking the areas many trails or visiting the numerous shops, restaurants and attractions, we as public servants would like to advise you of the following tips;

  • When leaving your vehicle parked for any length of time, be sure to take the keys and lock it up.
  • Do not leave temptations for those who may be tempted. Lock belongings, such as cameras and other valuable equipment, in your vehicle’s trunk.
  • Always park legally and be sure to turn off all lights in your vehicle to prevent dead batteries.
  • Safeguard pets by being aware of current weather conditions. Never leave any pet in a vehicle on hot days. Always keep a window opened slightly when pets are in the vehicle.
  • If hiking is planned, always prepare for your journey. Items such as a map, compass, matches, extra clothing, a flashlight and a first aid kit can all be lifesavers. Remember that global positioning systems (gps) are great for telling you where you are, but they do not tell a rescuer where you are. Common sense is the best friend you can have while hiking in the White Mountains so be careful and have fun!

The Lincoln/Woodstock area offers a great number of activities, including night entertainment. Area law enforcement officers insist that you please use sound judgment, DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! Your memories of a visit to our area will be much more pleasant without needless tragedy. Twenty-four (24) hour transportation is available, please use it if necessary.

In 1993, the Town of Lincoln was named by the NH Highway Safety Agency as its’ safest and most effectively patrolled small community by police pertaining to enforcement of motor vehicle laws. This agency takes pride in keeping our roads safe and we welcome you to visit our fine area soon.
