Having the most popular ski resort in the state, the Lincoln Police Department handles a number of ski thefts. With the rising cost of skis and ski equipment, this is a growing concern.
To help deter this crime, the Lincoln Police Department Ski Registration Program was developed in cooperation with the Lincoln/Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, Ski 93, United States Forest Service and Loon Mountain Recreation Corporation. The program is easy to use and free of charge.
Once registered, all valuable information regarding your skis, are kept on file at the Lincoln Police Department for a period of three years. This information is available to law enforcement agencies across the country.
If your skis are ever lost or stolen, report the loss to the police department where it occurred and advise them that the skis are registered with the Lincoln Police Department. We will make available to them the information required to enter your skis into the National Crime Computer for stolen items. If your skis are located anywhere in the country, you will be identified as the owner and you can make arrangements to have the skis returned to you.
To register your skis, you would need to fill out a ski registration form and you will be issued registration stickers to be placed on the tips of your skis. Registration forms and stickers are available at the Lincoln Police Department 24 hours a day.
